Responsibilities & Opportunities

Develop color formulas for various water-based materials using color matching software.  Create applied samples of the final color formula matches per customer request.

  • Develop color formulas for all high-performance water-based coatings and EIFS finishes using color matching software.
  • Apply finished color matches to 12” x 12” substrate boards for customer samples per request.
  • Ensure Color lab customer orders have been completed and closed in SAP on time. Communicate formula delivery schedule to Customer Care Rep on daily basis
  • Maintain color formula database for all products in the color program
  • Perform routine checks on automatic pigment dispensers and calibrate lab equipment as needed
  • Aid in the investigation of color related complaints
  • Attend to special projects as assigned by the R&D Technical Service Manager or National Color Program Coordinator
  • Maintain Color Lab inventory of various finishes, coatings, pails, pigments, sample boards, etc. needed to meet customer requests.
  • Label and package customer samples for shipment. Double check all samples for accuracy before they are shipped. 
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment and follow company established Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Notifies his/her supervisor before undertaking a work activity in which he/she is not adequately trained
  • Immediately reports unsafe acts or conditions to his/her supervisor and takes immediate interim steps to protect himself/herself and others from serious risk
  • Address and raise the EHS standards at Sika Corporation. Understands that Safety and Environmental responsibility is a major part of Sika’s Vision and Guiding Principles. Must report all unsafe conditions and accidents immediately to appropriate manager. Responsible for the safety of themselves and others.
  • Must understand and follow all quality initiatives and processes for ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and other ISO regulations, procedures and processes as they pertain to job responsibilities
  • Assure standards of safety, environmental, team and individual performance are met in a high performance team-based organization.

The primary qualification for this position is the attitude, ability and desire to help ensure that we consistently meet or exceed our customer’s expectations for color formulas and samples. This begins with the professionalism and enthusiasm and continues with the accuracy and timeliness of our service and product. It includes the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.

 

  • Coatings or Paint Color matching and/or mixing experience required
  • Understanding of pigments and color theory helpful
  • Ability to visibly distinguish colors. Cannot be color blind and must pass color blind test.
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Ability to working in a dynamic, fast paced laboratory environment
  • General computer knowledge, adept with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
